Graveyard Keeper 2 demo

A free pre-release demo exists, and it is more generous than most: roughly three to four hours that run from your first steps to the introduction of The Town. It is also Steam-only, which is the part most summaries get wrong.

Carrying your save forward

The demo page states that if you buy the full game you can continue your journey using your demo save file. That is a direct commitment from the store listing rather than an inference, and it makes the demo a reasonable way to start playing now rather than a throwaway sampler.

It also means the demo is the only source of first-hand information about the actual build. Everything this site says about the opening route comes from pre-release play, and it is labelled as such rather than presented as verified game data.

Guides

What "3 to 4 hours" buys you

The demo’s own description is short, so this is what it commits to and what it leaves open.

The demo covers the opening of the campaign and stops at the point where The Town enters the story. That places the graveyard fundamentals inside the demo — the escape, your first corpse, the burial loop and the early quality target — while the automation and town-restoration systems sit beyond its edge. The developer’s own framing of the full game’s loop runs graveyard, then automation, then Town, then army, so a demo that ends at The Town’s introduction is stopping precisely where the first system hands off to the second.

What the demo does not tell you: how much of the map is reachable, whether zombie automation can be touched at all, or how the demo handles the difficulty ramp. Those are demo-build questions that no storefront answers, and this site will not guess at them.

Demo availability by platform

One storefront carries a demo. Here is the full check, because a widely repeated claim says otherwise.

PlatformDemo statusDetail
Steam (PC)Available, freeA separate Steam application, id 5075680, released September 14, 2026. Its page carries the description of the content and the save-transfer promise.
PlayStation 5Listed, state ambiguousThe PlayStation concept page shows a separate demo product alongside the full game. It renders with pre-order purchase language rather than a free-download label, so this site does not describe the PlayStation demo as free.
XboxNot listedNeither the Xbox product page nor the Microsoft Store page for Windows surfaces a demo product.
Nintendo Switch and Switch 2Not listedNo demo SKU appears on either eShop entry. The only Nintendo-side extra product is the pre-order bonus, which is a DLC item rather than a demo.

A correction worth stating

At least one fan guide states the demo is available on four platform groups with save transfer. That claim could not be reproduced on any storefront checked on September 16, 2026. The verified position is narrower: Steam carries the demo, PlayStation lists one whose store state is unclear, and Xbox and Nintendo do not list one at all. This site records the narrower position and says which one it is following, because a reader who goes looking for a Switch demo deserves to know it is not there.

Where these facts come from

Graveyard Keeper 2 is not out yet, so nothing here is reproduced from a finished-game wiki. Each entry below is labelled by what it is: a developer or publisher source, a platform store listing, a press report, a video, or a fan-maintained page. Fan pages are used for terminology only, never for numbers.

  • Store listing Steam — Graveyard Keeper 2 Demo (app 5075680)The demo is registered as its own Steam application and is linked from the main app through the `demos` and `dlc` blocks. Steam publishes no demo description, so the demo’s scope stays unspecified there.
  • Store listing PlayStation Store — Graveyard Keeper 2 DemoA separate demo product sits alongside the full game on the same PlayStation concept page, flagged for PS4 and PS5. Its store state is ambiguous: it renders with pre-order purchase language rather than a free-download label, so this site does not describe the PS demo as free.
  • Store listing Nintendo eShop US — Graveyard Keeper 2 (Switch)Read 2026-09-16. Releases 9/22/26 at $19.99 USD with the discount window closing 9/22/26 at 04:59 p.m. UTC; 792 MB, single system, TV/tabletop/handheld, ESRB Teen. Carries the Switch 2 compatibility verdict "Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch". Tagged Action, Simulation, Pixel art and Voiced characters.
  • Fan page graveyardkeeper.org — fan guide hubA fan hub that claims the public demo is live across four platform groups with save transfer. That claim could not be reproduced on any storefront, so this site records the demo per platform from the stores themselves instead.
Questions

Demo questions

Is there a Graveyard Keeper 2 demo?

Yes, on Steam. It is a free, separate application that released September 14, 2026 and covers roughly three to four hours of the opening, ending at the introduction of The Town.

Does demo progress carry over to the full game?

Yes, per the demo’s own store page, which states that if you buy the full game you will be able to continue your journey using your demo save file. That commitment is on the Steam listing for the demo.

How long is the Graveyard Keeper 2 demo?

The store page says around three to four hours. That is the developer’s own estimate, and it will run shorter for players who skip side content.

Is the demo on PS5?

A demo product is listed on the PlayStation concept page, but its store state is ambiguous — it displays pre-order purchase language rather than a free-download label. Until that is clarified on the storefront, this site does not describe the PlayStation demo as free.

Is there a Switch or Xbox demo?

Not listed on either. Nintendo’s eShop carries only the game and the pre-order bonus, and neither the Xbox nor the Microsoft Store page surfaces a demo.

What does the demo include?

The store copy describes it as the beginning of the game, from your first steps to the introduction of The Town. In practice that means the escape, your first corpse and burial, and the early graveyard-quality push — the developer’s own four-stage loop puts automation and town restoration beyond that point.
