The Bioreactor in Graveyard Keeper 2

The Bioreactor converts Wheat into Zombie Power for the factory line, and that is its whole job: the community dataset registers exactly one recipe at mastery 1 — 5 Wheat in for 1 Zombie Power out — and no zombie worker is needed to run it. The Zombie Power it makes then feeds three Assembly bench II recipes and a single story hand-in. Both of this page’s sources are community reports, so every figure below carries its label and its date.

The Bioreactor in four points

It looks like a zombie station and is nothing of the sort. Everything here is community wiki data or press reporting, each figure dated rather than confirmed.

community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Entra trigo, sai energia zumbi

The station has a single recipe — 5 Wheat to 1 Zombie Power over 10 ticks — registered at mastery 1. No corpses go in, and nothing zombie-shaped comes out, whatever the artwork suggests.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Funciona sem trabalhador

Start the recipe and it finishes on its own while it is supplied, the way a furnace does. No zombie has to be posted to it, which makes it the odd one out on the belt run.

community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

É uma construção de fábrica, não de jardim

The Bioreactor technology costs 130 red plus 20 blue, and the station sits in the Factory’s Farming branch beside Smithy II and the kitchens. Its Wheat therefore arrives by conveyor and supplier rather than by hand.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

A energia zumbi é material, não combustível

It is an ingredient for three Assembly bench II recipes plus a quest hand-in. It does not power the Factory — only Zombie Carousels do that, and the two are easy to confuse.

What the Bioreactor actually does

A community dataset page is the only source in the material that states the machine’s numbers, and it describes a one-recipe, one-purpose station.

The icon causes most of the confusion

A launch-window press guide says the Bioreactor confuses players because the icon looks like you either put zombies in or pull zombies out. Neither is true, and corpses are not involved either: the input is Wheat, and the output is Zombie Power.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

It behaves like a furnace, not a workstation

The same write-up describes one input and one output, both needing Conveyor Belts, and states outright that no zombie worker is required because the station runs on its own. That is the single fact that separates it from every other bench on the line.

community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Seu trigo é tratado como recurso de fábrica

The wiki page frames the machine as a factory project rather than a garden one. The branch it lives in is fed by belt and by zombie supplier, which is why the garden side does not need to be automated unless you want the input to arrive on its own.

Logistics

How Wheat gets in and Zombie Power gets out

Both ends of the station want a Conveyor Belt. The input side has two reported options and the output side has two as well, and mixing them up is the usual first mistake.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Input option A: a belt from the Garden Storage

Run a Conveyor Belt down from the Garden Storage. The press guide adds the prerequisite that is easy to miss: build a Lifting Crane in the garden and set it to send Wheat down to the factory floor, or nothing arrives.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Input option B: a Conveyor Chest you fill

If you would rather not wire up the garden at all, a Conveyor Chest at the input works — you put the Wheat in yourself and the reactor draws from it. This is the slower route but needs no Garden Storage and no Lifting Crane.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Output: a chest, or a belt onwards

Zombie Power leaves through the single output. A Conveyor Chest collects it for you to pick up, or a belt carries it straight on to a downstream station such as the Zombie Mechanism line at Assembly bench II.

Only conveyor variants join a belt run

The wiki is explicit that the conveyor variants are the only stations that participate in a line: Assembly bench I to III, Smithy I and II, Kitchen I and II, plus the Bioreactor supplying the power. A normal workstation placed beside the line will not join in.

The line

Which stations share the belt with it

A build log shows the same branch in practice

A creator video walks through a tier-1 and tier-2 kit factory: two smithies in a straight line, one on sand for glass and one on clay for bricks, an Assembly machine I with the auto-hammer extension making wooden kits, an Assembly machine II with a drill press, and a Smithy I taking iron and coal for iron ingots, with space left clear for steel. It gives no numbers worth reusing beyond those placements.

Staffing is the second gate

Moving goods along a belt is only half the job — the bench at the end still needs an operator. The wiki notes that a factory bench with no zombie on it will not participate either, which is exactly the rule the Bioreactor is exempt from, because it crafts on its own.

Two conditions decide whether any station on that table actually works: it must be a conveyor variant rather than a normal workstation, and it must be staffed with a zombie. The Bioreactor is the one exception on both counts — it joins the line and runs unattended. Every station, cost and output figure in this section is community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026.

Zombie Power

What Zombie Power is actually for

The demand side is short and almost entirely on Assembly bench II. Every entry the wiki lists is a throughput purchase or a story hand-in rather than an item you carry around.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Power here is not the Factory’s fuel

The press guide is blunt about the distinction: Zombie Power does not run the Factory. That is done only by Zombie Carousels. The Bioreactor makes a crafting ingredient that happens to be called power, and mistaking the one for the other is a common planning error.

community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

It competes with the kitchen for the same crop

Because every unit costs 5 Wheat, the Bioreactor draws on the same supply as the kitchens in its own branch. The wiki’s own advice follows from that: a garden-only player should spend the 130 red and 20 blue elsewhere first, because the station pays off only once Assembly bench II recipes are actually running.

reported, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

The Bishop’s request is not urgent

At the Royal Foundry the Bishop asks for 3 Zombie Power, and the press guide says there is no big rush — Steel can still be bought while the quest sits open. It does have to be finished eventually, because it gates progress in the story rather than in the factory.

community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026

Where it sits among the other unlocks

The wiki page places the neighbouring systems alongside it: the PR Machine line in the Resurrection Lab, free zombies from the Plague Doctor’s Sweet Dreams quest and from Gunter at reputation 10, and the logistics technologies Zombie Assistant (35 red + 5 green, Zombie Supplier Station) and Zombie Delivery (110 red + 10 blue, Zombie Supply Porter and Supply Station). None of those spend Zombie Power; they only decide how much of the line you can staff and move.

What is still unknown

The wiki page and the press guide agree on the shape of the station, but neither closes these questions.

  • Whether the 5 Wheat to 1 Zombie Power ratio survived the launch patches. The only figure available is community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026.
  • Whether the 10 ticks are counted in real seconds or in a game-time step, and how the rate responds to upgrades. Neither source says.
  • Whether the Bioreactor has any recipe above mastery 1. The dataset registers exactly one, but the page does not claim the list is final — community wiki data, unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026.
  • What the wandering-zombie icon is actually meant to depict, since the station takes Wheat and produces neither zombies nor corpses. The press piece raises the confusion without resolving it.
  • Whether Zombie Power can be stored anywhere other than a Conveyor Chest, or carried in the player’s inventory at all. Neither source mentions either option.
  • Which of the story hand-ins is which. One source lists a Magic Mirror hand-in of 3 Zombie Power and another reports the Bishop asking for 3 at the Royal Foundry, without confirming they are the same quest.
  • Whether the kitchen competition is as tight as it looks: neither source says which crops the kitchens consume, or whether Wheat is shared with any station beside them.
  • Whether a normal workstation can be converted into a conveyor variant, or whether the variant is a separate build. The rule is stated but the mechanism is not.

Perguntas

Bioreactor questions

What does the Bioreactor do in Graveyard Keeper 2?

It converts Wheat into Zombie Power for the factory line. Community wiki data lists exactly one recipe at mastery 1 — 5 Wheat to 1 Zombie Power over 10 ticks — and the station auto-crafts, so you can start it and leave it while it stays supplied. No zombie worker is required, and no corpses are involved, despite what the icon suggests. Unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026.

What is Zombie Power used for?

Three Assembly bench II recipes and one story hand-in, according to the wiki table: Supply: Appliances I (4 Furniture Kit I + 1 Zombie Power), Zombie Mechanism (1 Engineering Kit + 1 Zombie Power), and Supply: Engineering Mechanism (2 Engineering Kit + 2 Zombie Power). The fourth entry is a hand-in of 3 Zombie Power, reported as the Bishop at the Royal Foundry. Unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026.

Does Zombie Power power the Factory?

No. The press guide says explicitly that Zombie Power does not run the Factory — only Zombie Carousels do. Zombie Power is a crafting input for Assembly bench II recipes, not a fuel for the conveyor network, and the two systems are worth separating before you plan a build.

How do you feed the Bioreactor Wheat?

Two routes are reported. Run a Conveyor Belt from the Garden Storage, which needs a Lifting Crane in the garden set to send Wheat down, or place a Conveyor Chest at the input and fill it yourself. Either way the input takes a Conveyor Belt, and the output is collected in a Conveyor Chest or passed straight on by belt.

Does the Bioreactor need a zombie worker?

No. It works on its own, like a furnace, which makes it unusual on the belt run. The other stations that join a line — Assembly bench I to III, Smithy I and II, Kitchen I and II — must be conveyor variants and must be staffed with a zombie to participate, while the Bioreactor does neither.

What does the Bioreactor cost to build?

10 Glass + 8 Bronze Gear + 6 Advanced Detail, per community wiki data. It is unlocked by the Bioreactor technology at 130 red plus 20 blue, in the Factory’s Farming branch beside Smithy II and the kitchens. Both figures are unconfirmed as of October 12, 2026.
